Air Purifying Systems & Solutions

Concerned about the Health and Well-Being of Your Employees and Yourself?

Indoor air pollution is a leading public health concern. Beginning in the ‘90s, the trend toward energy efficient workplaces literally trapped a variety of contaminants indoors. The increased use of chemical in business and industry led to a buildup of toxic pollutants in our work environment that came to be known as Sick Building Syndrome.

Initially, the impact of Sick Building Syndrome was elusive. Employees complained of not feeling well, however diagnosis was difficult. Eventually the impact of poor indoor air quality became clear: decreased productivity, absenteeism, worker’s comp and liability claims – even litigation! Sick Building Syndrome became a nightmare for employer and employee alike.

About Ozone

Ozone occurs in varying degrees of concentrations in different parts of the world. Those areas generally considered to be the healthiest-the mountains, the seashore, and heavily wooded areas-have the greatest levels of ozone concentration.

Ozone is internationally recognized as a powerful oxidant, and has been used extensively in both Europe and the United States to purity water.

Benefits & Effects of Ozone

Ozone is deadly to fungus, viruses, and bacteria. When ozone attacks microorganisms, they are not just minimized, they are eliminated. There is another significant effect too: Ozone eliminates odors. Not only common odors such as those found in offices, but severe odors as well, such as those found in chicken and fish processing plants.

In 1990, Air Purifying Systems introduced its Air Purifiers. These Air Purifiers generate a safe level of ozone indoors, producing the fresh, purified air quality found in nature’s healthiest outdoor environments. Air Purifying Systems Commercial Air Purifiers are not based on aerosols, nor are they a cover-up or a filtration device.

How the products work

Air Purifying Systems Commercial Air Purifiers install in the air handler of the building' GVAC system and use a high frequency ultraviolet light to change ambient air (O2) into ozonated air (O3). The ozonated air is then cooled or heated and recirculated throughout the building via the existing ductwork. The ozone remains active for about 30 minutes.

ABSOLUTELY SAFE & HEALTHLY The OSHA 8-hour exposure limit for ozone is 0.8 ppm (parts per million). Nature’s concentrations at ground level are typically 1.5 ppm. Air Purifying Systems Commercial Air Purifiers produce less than 0.05 ppm, much less than the OSHA exposure limit, so the purified air produced by these devices is extremely safe for you and your employees.

Fast, easy and Econimical

Once installed, you’ll begin to notice a difference almost immediately. And after a few days of breathing purified air, you may even feel increased vitality and observe it in your staff as well.

Air Purifying Systems Commercial Air Purifiers require only enough wattage to power the UV light, making them very economical to operate. The ultraviolet tube lasts about 5-7 years. Monthly maintenance requires only that the bulb be wiped with alcohol on a cloth when the unit is not running, and changing the air filter, thus making the unit virtually maintenance free.

One more benefit of these air purifiers is their ability to improve the operating efficiency of the HVAC system by preventing airborne debris from clinging to the evaporator coil, resulting in fewer repairs.

Controlling Indoor Air Quality

There are three approaches to controlling indoor air quality:

  • Source Control - Choosing materials that do not contribute to contamination.
  • Dilution Control - Using outdoor air to reduce indoor concentrations of pollutants.
  • Removal Control - Using air purification and filtration systems and devices to remove contaminants.

The major sources of indoor air contamination are: outdoor air, building materials, building systems (heating, ventilation, plumbing, insulation), people who occupy the buildings, and processes conducted within them.

The following chart lists the most common contaminants, their sources and effects on humans.

Microorganisms People coughing and sneezing, and carrying germs into the building Repeated colds and flus, absenteeism, loss of productivity
Radon Building meterials, ground water, soil Linked to cancer
Formaldehyde Foam insulation, particle board, plywood, carpeting, drapery and upholstery fabrics Respiratory irritation, nausea, headache, suspected carinogen
Tobacco smoke Tobacco products, second-hand smoke Respiratory irritation, nausea, headache, suspected carcinogen
Hydrocarbons/Organic chemicals Copiers, liquid paper, aerosols, floor and furniture polish Respiratory irritation, nausea, headache, eye irritation

The BreatheEZ™ Air Purifier filters need to be changed monthly.

DUAL-PLY DUSTLOK™ MEDIA

  • Consistently Highest Quality
  • Dual-Density for Progressive Depth Leading
  • Effective Control of Mold, Mildew, Algae, Fungi on the Filter
  • MERV 8 – ASHRAE 52.2-1999
  • Flame Retarded – U.L. Class 2

Dustlok® Dual-Ply Media With Spor-Ax® MERV 8 – The Only True High Performance Media

UPSTREAM
70% of Thickness
DOWNSTREAM
30% of Thickness

Distinct Dual Density

provides maximum dust loading. The course open structure of the white, air entering layer is designed for depth loading. The orange, dense downstream layer prevents finer dirt particles from passing through the media.

Unique Dustlok® Adhesive

uniformly coats the fibers in the downstream layer during the formation of the media. Dustlok® is an integral part of total media – not a post application.

Dustlok® Will Not Dry Out Or Migrate

due to the mon-volatile chemical composition of its adhesive formulation.

Dustlok® Renews Its Effectiveness

by absorbing dust particles into the adhesive, thus trapping them onto the surface of individual fibers.

Operating Temperatures Up To 200F

with no adverse effect in performance.

Spor-Ax® Antimicrobial

is a biocide that effectively controls growth of mold, mildew, algae and fungi on filters. Fiberbond filters with Spor-Ax® do not support microbial growth. Spor-Ax will not off gas, migrate or leach into the air stream.

Dual-Ply Dustlok® Performance

Independent laboratory testing using ASHRAE Standard 52.2 (Method of Testing General Ventilation Air Cleaning Devices for Removal Efficiency by Particle Size) classified one inch Dustlok® as MERV 8. Actual test performance curves show efficiencies at various resistance points.
